CROP - SWIFTS PART 8

Swift connections seem to be popping up all over as the journey continues to a village called Islip, birthplace of Edward the Confessor.

No prizes for guessing the bird on the Old Confessor’s crest: martlets (ye olde name for swifts).

First, scientist-swifter-mum Jocelyne Hughes, who shares an unusual swift story: mummified swifts found wrapped in a Victorian newspaper.
